Job Summary

The Assistant Bursar is primarily responsible for coordinating the student account services and payment processing functions within the Bursar’s Office. Responsibilities include supervising the accounting specialist team, reviewing systems and processes, and performing reconciliations. The Assistant Bursar also assists the Director, Bursar Operations, with managing communication efforts, data analysis, and the development of goals and objectives for the department.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with emphasis in Accounting or Business.
• Five years computerized accounting background with general ledger experience.
• Two years of supervisory experience.
• Customer service experience and ability to de-escalate challenging interactions.
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Effective time and resource management skills
• Demonstrated ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, and implement appropriate solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to complete work with accuracy and thoroughness required.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to effectively use integrated administrative computer systems and train users.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous student account experience preferred.
• Experience with Banner and TouchNet preferred.
• Experience in higher education preferred.
