Our research priorities are improvement of health outcomes, promoting health for rural and underserved populations, and transforming nursing and interprofessional health education. The College of Nursing is especially interested in candidates who have significant potential for building an extra-murally funded program of research. This is a 9-month, full-time, benefits-eligible, tenure track position. The position would serve as 100% faculty for the College of Nursing. This position is supervised by the College of Nursing Assistant Dean and will be based at any of our College of Nursing sites (Brookings, Sioux Falls, or Rapid City).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Faculty members plan, implement, and evaluate assigned courses either as an individual assignment or as a member of a teaching team.
  • Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in Nursing which includes planning, implementing and evaluating assigned courses either as an individual assignment or as a member of a teaching team.
  • Successfully provide distance delivery.
  • Work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.
  • Develop, fund, and maintain an active program of research and dissemination.
  • Service to the profession.
  • Occasional travel to other sites as needed.
SALARY RANGE :
Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience, Assistant Professor minimum salary starts at $78,000. We offer a generous retirement plan that includes 6% matching, 9.34 hours of sick leave each month, and eleven paid holidays. Relocation benefits are available per university’s guidelines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
  • A Ph.D. in Nursing or a closely related health field by start date of position.
  • Ability or potential for teaching and curriculum development at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Ability or potential to run an independent research program.
  • Potential to obtain external funding.
  • Ability or potential to publish research in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Valid driver’s license, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire, and willingness to travel.
