Position Summary
The College of Environment and Design ( CED ) at the University of Georgia ( UGA ) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching design studios, technical courses, and electives in our highly rated BLA and MLA programs, as well as developing a research program that enhances our commitment to stronger communities, healthier lifestyles, and a more secure future.
We seek individuals with a deep passion for teaching and mentoring students who are great collaborators and are excited to engage in interdisciplinary scholarship. Additional consideration will be given to candidates who can contribute to the CED’s urban planning and design program and certificates under development in Construction Management and Land Development. This tenure-track position starts on August 1, 2025, and is an academic year appointment (9 months).

UGA’s College of Environment and Design ( CED ) is home to the oldest landscape architecture program in the Southeast and one of the largest BLA programs in the United States. In addition to the BLA and MLA programs, the College provides Masters of Historic Preservation, Masters of Urban Planning and Design, and PhD degrees, as well as certificates in Environmental Ethics, Cultural Landscapes, and Historic Preservation. The College’s global presence includes regular programming at UGA’s campus in Cortona, Italy, and a strong working relationship with Nanjing Forestry University and Beijing Forestry University. A professionally accredited MLA degree (or foreign equivalent) or an accredited BLA degree with a terminal degree in an allied design discipline.
Additional Requirements
Evidence of strong landscape architecture design skills and knowledge.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification
- Teaching experience (at least one year) at the university level. We are particularly interested in candidates who can effectively teach design studios with projects ranging from site design to regional planning, urban design, site engineering, or construction materials and methods.
- Landscape architecture licensure.
- Ideal candidates will have proven expertise in design excellence and innovation, health and well-being, and/or design at neighborhood, city, and regional scales.
- Demonstration of quality research or the ability to develop a strong research trajectory, including design excellence and awards.
- Demonstration of teaching, research, professional practice, and/or design expertise that is highly recognized by peers.
