Purpose of Position
The Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Marketing and Promotions reports to the Deputy Athletic Director and is responsible for coordinating all marketing and promotional activities for 17 intercollegiate athletic sports programs. Position develops marketing plan for all sports programs and athletic department; coordinates design and production of print materials; develops and implements all media publicity including various social media outlets; coordinates all game-day activities to fulfill sponsor and promotion obligations; directs all production activities for basketball within the BB&T Arena; coordinates and assists with special events; represents Northern Kentucky University Athletics on various University committees and in the Greater Cincinnati/ Northern Kentucky community; and schedules and directs community service activities for Northern Kentucky University Athletics Department.

Compliance with NCAA rules is of the utmost importance at Northern Kentucky University. As a member of the athletics department staff it is expected that the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Marketing and Promotions will have a full understanding of the NCAA rules that pertain to the position. It is also expected that the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Marketing and Promotions will comply with all NCAA rules and if he/she becomes aware, or have reasonable cause to believe, that a violation of a rule has occurred he/she will immediately report it to the Director of Athletics or his/her designee. Primary Responsibilities
Regular Duties Performed Daily or Almost Daily:

1. Development and implementation of a comprehensive marketing and promotions plan for the Department of Athletics, with an emphasis on men’s and women’s basketball. This plan will focus on various constituencies, including community supporters, corporate supporters, alumni, faculty, staff and students.

2. Direct all advertising outlets, including print, radio, TV, billboards, social media, etc.

3. Identify and research prospective customers, creating ongoing networking opportunities, make connections and cultivate relationships with clientele to provide repeat business opportunities.

4. Produce, plan, edit, and create marketing and promotions for the athletics website and social media outlets (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest).

5. Direct and coordinate community outreach activities involving public appearances by Northern Kentucky University Athletics administrators, coaches, student-athletes, spirit squads, and the mascot to promote a positive public relations and information service regarding Northern Kentucky University Athletics.

6. Plan and direct event and game management activities for all Northern Kentucky University home athletic events including theme nights, special events, anthem performers, halftime acts, and giveaways. Direction of promotional activities at Northern Kentucky University home basketball events includes set-up, student worker placement, contestant selection, radio distribution, and other various activities pertaining to promotions.

7. Direct all production activities for Northern Kentucky University home basketball events, including creation and design of content for video boards, directing music and video, and coordinating all activities with operations staff of The BB&T Arena.

8. Represent the Athletic Department and Northern Kentucky University in assisting with negotiation of corporate partnerships; work closely with Learfield Sports on fulfillment of corporate sponsorship requirements.

9. Supervise Coordinator of Athletic Marketing & Promotions, Coordinator of Athletics Ticketing, Graduate Assistant, and interns/student workers. Coordinate work schedules for in office, event, and game operations.

10. Coordinate internship program with NKU Sports Business/Marketing Department. Duties within program include speaking to SPB / MKT classes for recruitment, assigning weekly duties, completing recommendations and evaluations, maintaining contact with SPB department head and organizing future intern duties.

11. Prepare budget recommendations on an annual basis. Monitor expenditures throughout the year to ensure fiscal responsibility.

12. Represent NKU Athletics on various University committees and in consultation with other
University departments, including but not limited to: Welcome Week, Fresh Fusion, Family Weekend, Homecoming, Norse Force, Campus Planning, University Marketing,
University Development, Alumni Affairs, and Student Affairs.

13. Serve as an ambassador to solicit support for the NKU Athletics Department and University projects and priorities. Speak before various constituents and establish activities that will promote attendance at athletic events.

14. Provide a positive and professional presence in the community.

15. Perform other duties as assigned by the Deputy Athletic Director and/or Director of Athletics.

Occasional Duties Performed:

1. Represent the University and Athletics as a speaker at local clubs, schools or organization events.

2. Assist in preparation and management of Horizon League and NCAA post-season events.

Travel to select road games based upon donor/alumni function(s) as well as post-season play as determined by the Deputy Athletic Director. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:


Bachelor’s degree in marketing, sport management or other related field of study
Three years of experience in athletic marketing
