Teaching Assistant Professor - Multi- and Interdisciplinary Studies

The Programs for Multi- and Interdisciplinary Studies ( https://mds.wvu.edu/ ) at West Virginia University invite applications for a Teaching Assistant Professor starting January 2022. This is a 9-month, full-time, non-tenure track position with full benefits and the opportunity for promotion. Teaching Assistant Professor appointments have renewable terms of up to three years, with no limit on the number of terms.

The successful candidate will contribute to our undergraduate programs in Multidisciplinary Studies, Interdisciplinary studies, Bachelor of Integrated Studies, Regents Bachelor of Arts, and related bachelor-level degree programs. This position requires teaching traditional and online courses across a range of disciplines, advising and mentoring undergraduates, experiential education, service-learning, and knowledge of evaluating student portfolios. Teaching and advising during the summer may be expected, with additional compensation.

The Programs in Multi- and Interdisciplinary Studies offer undergraduate degrees including the Bachelors in Multidisciplinary Studies, a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies, a Bachelor of Integrated Studies, and the Regents Bachelor of Arts, enrolling approximately 700 full-time students. Our students tailor their education to their interests through flexible and student-centered paths to academic success. Our faculty members share a strong commitment to interdisciplinary studies and scholarship, hold advanced degrees in disciplines that complement their expertise in interdisciplinary theory, and take pride in providing consistent and accurate academic advising.

Qualifications :

The position requires a terminal degree (e.g., PhD, EdD, MFA), knowledge in Multidisciplinary and Interdisciplinary Studies; demonstrated ability for excellent university-level teaching; ability to develop, implement, and assess innovative academic advising initiatives; excellent oral and written communication skills; and excellent interpersonal skills.
