Duke University Divinity School seeks to appoint the first Joseph B. Bethea Chair in Black Church Studies, effective July 1, 2025. The position is for a regular-rank member of the Divinity School faculty with the possibility of tenure. The specific scholarly field is open. The Bethea Chair professor will be an accomplished scholar/teacher who can provide leadership in the Divinity School, the wider university, and beyond, and teach in both the residential and hybrid programs. Faculty rank and salary will be set according to qualifications and experience. A Ph.D., Th.D., or the equivalent is requisite. The M.Div. degree or equivalent is strongly desirable.
