QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, financial planning, counseling, or related field.

Experience: Minimum of three years of experience in financial education, planning, counseling, or advising. knowledge of personal finance, budgeting, debt management, investing, and/or financial planning. Familiarity with financial aid processes and programs, experience using financial literacy software and tools. Experience in program development and assessment. Ability to work collaboratively and engage students in financial education. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Bilingual, Spanish-speaking preferred. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As part of the five-year Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) Grant project Driving Student Success Through High-Impact Practices at Harper College, responsible for developing and coordinating financial education initiatives to empower students to make informed financial decisions and achieve financial stability. Involves implementing a comprehensive financial literacy program, workshops, and informational sessions.

ABOUT THE TEAM

RESPONSIBILITIES

Designs, implements, and continually improves a comprehensive financial literacy program that aligns with the college's mission and student needs.

Supports the development of program goals, objectives, and a strategic plan for growth and sustainability; works with the Office of Outcomes and Assessment to create and administer surveys to measure program effectiveness, including feedback from students and stakeholders; use data to make informed program improvements and track outcomes.

Coordinates and conducts financial literacy workshops, seminars, and presentations for students on topics such as budgeting, saving, investing, debt management, and financial planning.

Collaborates with faculty and staff to integrate financial education into existing curricula.

Offers financial counseling and guidance to students; guides students in developing financial plans, setting financial goals, and addressing financial challenges.

Identifies and develops resources, tools, and materials to support financial literacy initiatives, making them accessible to students and staff.

Stays updated on financial education best practices and resources to enhance program effectiveness.

Promotes financial literacy programs to the college community, including students, faculty, and staff, to encourage participation.

Collaborates with campus organizations and services to create a culture of financial empowerment.

Collaborates with financial aid offices, student services, and local financial institutions to enhance the financial wellness of students.

Builds partnerships with external organizations that provide financial literacy resources and support.

Performs other duties as assigned.
