The Indiana University Jacobs School of Music seeks candidates for a tenure-track or tenured position as Clarinet Professor to begin August 2025. The ideal candidate will have recognition both nationally and internationally as a performer and as a pedagogue in a wide variety of settings.
Primary responsibilities include building and maintaining a studio of undergraduate- and graduate-level clarinet students, teaching studio classes, and coaching chamber ensembles. Additional duties could include teaching orchestra literature classes, pedagogy classes, and other related courses. The successful candidate is expected to participate in departmental meetings, recruitment activities and auditions, doctoral committees, and recital hearing committees, along with other department activities, such as faculty recitals and outreach activities, master classes, and other similar activities.
Basic Qualifications: The ideal candidate must have an established or growing reputation with broad professional experience and have the ability to work successfully with gifted and advanced university-level students. A master’s degree in music is required, or an equivalent of outstanding professional experience will also be considered.
Salary and Rank: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
