The Indiana University Jacobs School of Music seeks candidates for a tenure-track or tenured position specializing in video game scoring to join the faculty of a vibrantly active and performance-focused composition department. Expected start date: 08/01/2025.
Responsibilities will include:
- Teaching courses in video-game scoring and related subjects in interactive media.
- Develop and maintain an active career composing for video games. Maintain involvement with appropriate professional organizations
- Foster collaboration with other Indiana University units such as The Media School; Kelley School of Business; and Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering. Develop music industry professional connections that benefit the Composition department and its students.
- Student advising, student recruitment, and service on departmental and Jacobs School committees is expected.
Qualifications: Active game composer with a growing or established national reputation, including recognition as shown through published video game releases, recordings, awards, or appearances at conferences and festivals. A thorough understanding of designing interactive music systems and implementing music in audio middleware like Wwise and FMOD, as well as a basic familiarity with different game engines such as Unreal Engine preferred. Bachelor’s degree in music or related field required, master’s degree preferred; commensurate professional experience will also be considered.
Salary and Rank: This is an open rank search and salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
