Position Summary
Under the direction of the Associate Athletic Director for Equipment and Brand Management, this position assists with oversight of all aspects of the Athletic Department retail outlets, including locations within the Convocation Center, Recreation, Yordon Center, and any kiosk/remote setups.

Under the direction of the Associate Athletic Director for Equipment and Brand Management, this position assists with oversight of all aspects of the Athletic Department retail outlets, including locations within the Convocation Center, Recreation, Yordon Center, and any kiosk/remote setups.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Retail Oversight – 35%
- Oversight of revenue generation through online retail sales, in-house retail shop(s), and special events including NIU Athletics and Recreation equipment surplus public sales.
- Duties include but are not limited to: oversight of daily reading of registers, opening and closing procedures, merchandise displays setup, day-to-day operations of retail location(s), pricing and tagging of merchandise, safety awareness within store location(s), traffic flow, and initiatives to drive sales and profitability through consumer awareness and satisfaction and special promotions/advertising events.
- Maintain sales inventory and record keeping for auditing purposes as regulated by both state and university policies and procedures.
- Develops and responds to correspondence and drafts policies for retail sections as required.
- Works closely with Athletic Business Office and the Sr. Associate AD/HR and Finance Administration on proper retail accounting practices, policies, and procedures.
- Working with the Associate AD/Equipment and Brand Management, ensure all measures are in place to uphold the brand’s reputation.
- Oversee customer service, monitoring and addressing any quality issues promptly and implement improvements to prevent recurrence.
- Supervise all part-time help assigned to the retail area(s) to include scheduling, payroll review, and training.
- Attend departmental meetings as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Associate degree in any field or concentration including general studies.
- Two (2) years (24 months) of experience in a retail environment
- One (1) year (12 months) of supervisory experience in a retail environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) (Civil Service)
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
