Position Summary:
The University of Idaho's Department of Movement Sciences in the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences invites applications for a full-time 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Exercise, Sport, and Health Sciences (ESHS) related to kinesiology and health science fields. We are interested in candidates who view health holistically and complementary to physical activity, exercise, fitness, and human performance. Candidates with graduate training, expertise, and/or experience in health sciences, health promotion and behavior change, and public and community health will be highly valued.
The ideal candidate will establish a focused line of scholarly inquiry, publication, and extramural funding that are aligned with the healthy active lifestyles mission of the department. Collaboration with faculty in the department, college, and university is highly valued.
We aim to recruit a dynamic scholar and educator who can bring expertise to our undergraduate and graduate programs. Areas of teaching expertise for this position include but are not limited to: critical health issues;community health theory, systems, and practice; and/or health assessment, planning, and intervention. We are also interested in candidates who have the potential to teach other classes in our ESHS curriculum.
Expectations of the position also include a commitment to mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, and providing service and outreach within the ESHS program and to the University of Idaho and Moscow communities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified applicants will provide evidence of:
- PhD, DrPH, DrHSc, or EdD in Exercise Science and Health, Public and/or Community Health, Health Behavior, or a closely related field.
- Evidence of scholarly productivity and external funding in area of expertise.
- Experience teaching University-level health sciences courses or closely related content.
Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to required qualifications, we are interested in candidates who have evidence of:
- Experience applying for and/or securing external grant funding.
- A holistic view of health and health behavior, related to one or more of the following: physical activity, exercise, fitness, and/or human performance
- Development and delivery of coursework (e.g., online and face-to-face) for undergraduate and graduate programs.
- Experience advising and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students.
- Excellent communication skills.
