Position Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Department of Political Science invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor position to begin in August 2025. We seek an outstanding teacher/scholar dedicated to excellence in teaching political science courses. The successful candidate will have a doctorate in political science with demonstrated expertise in political theory and proven ability to teach courses at the undergraduate level in political science, including but not limited to Classical and Contemporary Political Theory and courses in American Politics. The position requires a 3/3 teaching load and providing service to the Department and the Spelman College community including advising and mentoring students. Candidates with a demonstrated commitment to working with women and underrepresented minority students through teaching, mentoring, and research are especially encouraged to apply. All courses will be taught in-person.

Two letters of recommendation, research samples, two sample syllabi, and a minimum of two-pages of statement of teaching philosophy.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in Political Science and publications and active research agenda in Political Theory.
