    Job Summary

    The School of Nursing at The University of Texas at Tyler invites qualified applicants with an established program of research / scholarship focused on health promotion, health disparities, and/or data analytics, to apply for a full-time, tenure-track full professor faculty position. The salary is commensurate with experience and flexible start date. This is a 9-month academic appointment with a possible summer stipend.

    Essential Functions

    Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Primary teaching responsibility in a nationally recognized online graduate nursing program
  • Maintaining an active program of scholarship
  • Mentoring and advising students
  • Participating in School and University service.



Required Qualifications
  • PhD in Nursing or related discipline
  • 10 years teaching experience
  • Eligible for RN licensure in Texas
  • Established program of research
  • Record of extramural support and current competitive funding.



Nursing Program

The highly respected accelerated BSN program enrolls over 1,300 nursing students each semester across three campuses located in Tyler, Longview, and Palestine, Texas. On-line RN-BSN, and RN-MSN tracks provide associate degree and diploma prepared registered nurses opportunity to earn a BSN and an MSN from an accredited, respected program. A concurrent ADN-BSN program provides current associate degree students the opportunity to simultaneously earn their BSN. Online graduate programs are nationally ranked among the top in the country by US News & World Report. We offer the Master of Science (MSN) -- Nursing Administration; MSN -- Nursing Education; MSN -- Informatics, Quality & Safety; MSN-- Family Nurse Practitioner and MSN -- Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Post bachelor's and post master's certificates are available in each of these specialty areas. Doctoral programs include a Doctor of Philosophy Degree (PhD) in Nursing and Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP). New doctoral level offerings include an Adult Geriatric Acute Care Nurse practitioner certificate and a Nurse Anesthesia degree (begins fall 2025). A new Critical Transport Certificate is planned for 2025. For more information about the nursing program:

Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.

This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code Section 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
