The Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas seeks applications for a visiting/adjunct faculty position to teach an undergraduate course on Foundations of Public Affairs in the fall semester of academic year 2025-26.

The LBJ School is a world-renowned public policy school located in Austin, Texas. It has a long history in policy research and professional education at the graduate level. The School currently has around 400 graduate students in four degree programs: PhD, Master of Public Affairs, Master of Global Policy Studies, and Executive Master in Public Leadership. The School is launching its first undergraduate program leading to the Bachelor of Public Affairs degree in the fall semester of 2025.

This new degree program focuses on skills in leadership, policy analysis, data analytics, communication, and organizational management to prepare its graduates for a career in public service. The size of the inaugural cohort is expected to be 70 undergraduate students. The course on Foundations of Public Affairs serves as the intellectual platform for the entire Bachelor of Public Affairs curriculum. The School is therefore seeking an instructor who can weave together multiple scholarly and political perspectives to make this course the cornerstone for the rest of the program. Qualifications

A master's degree in public affairs or a field related to public affairs is required. Preferred but not required qualifications would be a PhD or terminal degree in a related field and a record of teaching excellence. Professional experience in public affairs or the subject of instruction is also preferred. The successful candidate may choose to teach this one course on an adjunct basis, or propose other contributions to the mission of the Johnson School to make this a full-time visiting position.
