Description

The Department of Computing and Information Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in Computer Science with a start date of August 16, 2025. This colleague will be responsible for teaching and conducting scholarly work in computer science. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in artificial intelligence, machine learning, or related fields. A faculty member hired into this position will be expected to teach courses in computer science, advise and mentor students in various computing programs, take part in research / scholarly activities, help expand undergraduate research, as well as participate in service activities for the department, college, university, and research community. The standard teaching load is 9 credit hours per semester.

Priority will be given to applications received by November 15, 2024. The position will remain open until filled. 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate courses in computer science
  • Engage in high-quality research in the field specialization
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students
  • Serve on university, college, and departmental committees
  • Other duties as assigned by the department chair

Qualifications

  • PhD in Computer Science or related field
  • Candidates with teaching and/or research experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, or related fields are preferred
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness and strong commitment to student learning and development, including interest in undergraduate research
  • Evidence of an ability to maintain an active scholarship agenda
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships with a diverse group of students
