Maastricht University

Maastricht University (UM) is the youngest university in The Netherlands. With nearly 22,000 students and 5,000 staff, UM is still growing. The University distinguishes itself with its innovative education model, international character, and multidisciplinary approach to research and education.

Thanks to its high-quality research and education, as well as a strong focus on social engagement, UM has quickly built a solid reputation. Research and education at UM have a thematic, multidisciplinary nature, inspired by topical issues such as sustainability, European integration, healthy ageing, and the influence of technological developments on society. Researchers work in multidisciplinary teams, in close collaboration with national and international institutions, companies, and industry.

Faculty of Science and Engineering

The Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE) offers top-tier research and education. Students and scientists contribute to Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD programmes, driving innovative research in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and more. FSE aims to transform science and technology, and to prepare its students to become future changemakers and innovators, leading the way towards a sustainable, greener planet.

Having been established in 2018, the Faculty of Science and Engineering is a relatively young faculty. The growth has been rapid, and FSE has developed from a start-up to a scale-up among UM’s Faculties. As FSE continues to grow, a sustained focus on efficiency and agility will ensure FSE will not only sustain its momentum but will excel in meeting new opportunities within innovation and responsiveness. To support its growth, the faculty is seeking to appoint a Vice-Dean.
