Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities:
The Virginia Commonwealth University Lipidomics and Metabolomics Core facility has an opening for an analytical chemist with liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry experience to work with biological analytes across numerous biological sample types.
Typical Duties Include:
Position will require extensive sample preparation duties. Extract samples, prepare sample for loading onto mass spectrometers, and load them.
Data analysis will make up a large portion of duties. Analyze data for quality. Integrate peak areas and perform appropriate calculations.
Assist with other lab duties. Aid in maintaining lab, receive samples and aid in method development
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
The ideal applicant would have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry with analytical focus.
Experience with targeted analyses using triple quadrupole instruments is a plus.
This position would require end-to-end sample handling from sample processing and treatment, extraction, liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, to data analysis.
Experience with a large range of liquid chromatographic methodologies including reverse phase, normal phase, HILIC and others is also a plus.
This position will require significant communication with co-workers as well as a diverse group of university faculty, trainees, and additional personnel.
Preferred Qualifications:
The ideal applicant would have a PhD degree in Chemistry with analytical focus.
Experience with targeted LC-MS/MS analyses using triple quadrupole instruments.
Experience with end-to-end sample handling from sample processing and treatment, extraction, liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, to data analysis in a wide range of biological sample types.
Experience with a large range of liquid chromatographic methodologies including reverse phase, normal phase, HILIC and others.
Experience in a role that requires significant communication with co-workers and collaborators.
