Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) invites applicants for an Assistant Director of Financial Aid - .50 FTE (SUA2) in the Financial Aid Department.
The Assistant Director of Financial Aid, under the supervision of the Director of Financial Aid, helps to ensure IUP’s compliance with federal, state, and institutional financial aid rules, regulations, and guidelines for administering financial aid programs. This position is directly responsible for administration and oversight of over-award and over-cost adjustments to financial aid awards and determining and verifying aid eligibility for students enrolling in study abroad, collaborative/consortium agreements, and clinical experiences. The Assistant Director must bring a student-centered approach to their work and have exceptional customer service/student success and communication skills, as this position regularly works with students, families, and units across campus to problem solve, build relationships, and identify efficiencies for administering financial aid. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong technical, organizational, communication, and time management skills and must be able to excel whether working independently or on a team.
Minimum requirements for this position:
- Bachelor’s degree
- One year of experience in the administration of financial aid, higher education, or a related field
- At least three years of student success or customer service experience
This is a part-time position that requires 18.75 hours of work per week; the work schedule is flexible and will be decided upon between the supervisor and the successful candidate.
Position Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree
- One year of experience in the administration of financial aid, higher education administration, or a related field
- Three years of student success or customer service
experience
- Experience in Banner Financial Aid, Ellucian Student Financial
Success (formerly Campus Logic), and Federal Student Aid Systems
(including Common Origination & Disbursement System (COD),
National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS), FAFSA Partner Portal
(FPP)).
Candidates must communicate effectively and perform well in the interview(s).
Essential Functions
The work of this position occurs in a typical office environment. Although infrequent, periods of heavy exertion may occur. Incumbent must have the following abilities:
- Ability to travel to field locations and meeting/training sites by motor vehicle when required.
- Communicate both orally and in writing to issue, receive and carry out instructions and orders effectively and to convey information to a variety of co-workers and the general public
- Use a variety of common office machines such as telephones, calculators, copiers, computer terminals, keyboards, video display terminals, auxiliary printers and similar equipment.
- Perform manual duties such as lifting and carrying various weight limits.
- Operate office equipment which may require stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching and prolonged standing.
- Provide assistance and guidance to internal and external customers.
- Follow oral and written instructions.
