Job Summary
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty position as Assistant Professor of Communication and Media in the School of Communication and Media of the Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences with a preferred start date of August 2025. This is a nine-month contracted position. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.
Responsibilities
- Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in media and communication, such as: Fundamentals of Media and Entertainment; Uses and Effects of Mass Media; Communication Research Methods; Media Management; Gender, Race and Media; Media Theory; and other courses appropriate to the candidate's expertise.
- Service to the School, College, University, and discipline.
- Conducting research that aligns with the university's research mission.
- Commitment to fostering learning and mentoring students toward student success outcomes.
- Teaching in-person, virtual, and/or mixed-modality instructions.
Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- A PhD, or the foreign equivalent, in Communication, Media Studies or a related discipline is required. The degree must be earned by the start date.
- An active research program commensurate with the level of experience as evidenced by publications or other relevant scholarly activities.
- Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and/or mentoring
students.
Preferred Qualifications
- Focus areas include, but are not limited to: Media and Society, Media and Communication Technology, Media and Information, Media and Democracy, Representation and Disparities in the Media, and Media Effects.
- Experience with various methodological backgrounds, such as, but not limited to, qualitative, quantitative, critical/cultural, and computational. Mixed methods or multi-methodological approaches are also encouraged.
- Demonstrates the potential to advance a research agenda through
ongoing pursuit of extramural funding.
