SUMMARY:

Responsible for the academic quality, operational effectiveness, staff development, student retention, improvement and enrollment growth of the campus. Accountable for quality professional education for student and graduate success by leading the overall operational and educational functions of the campus. This position will lead the campus in creating a student-centered learning environment, and a campus culture of professionalism, teamwork, inclusiveness and respect among students, faculty and staff. Campus Executive Committee (EC) members are dotted- line indirect reports to this position and solid-line reporting to functional Associate Vice Chancellors (AVCs).

KEY JOB ELEMENTS:

  • Committed to uphold and demonstrate the highest level of integrity in all situations.
  • In important matters or decisions of significance for the campus or university, the Campus Director/Dean of Academic Affairs and Operations (DOAAO), the Associate Vice Chancellor (AVC) for Academic Affairs and the Associate Vice Chancellor (AVC) for Operations must collaborate and agree.
  • Through dotted-line supervision of campus functional leaders and collaboration with Vice Chancellors (VCs) and AVCs achieves the key outcomes of the campus. Key metrics include new student enrollment, student persistence (retention), B2B partnerships, affiliation agreements, budget plans, new programs, graduate employment rates, graduate starting salaries, graduate license/certification pass rates, and student and employee satisfaction.
  • Provide strong leadership and guidance with a focus on advancing educational quality, access, and student success. This will include building enrollment, outreach efforts, and delivering instructional and support services that meets the needs of students and communities served by the college.
  • Assure that all faculty and program directors are appropriately supervised, developed and evaluated. Review and act using data, including course surveys, faculty performance evaluations, course and academic program enrollment metrics, and student satisfaction indicators.
  • Operationally-minded and monitors reports, systems, policies, and procedures in order to ensure consistent and effective delivery of all academic programs and maximize enrollment and retention.
  • Effectively uses data to make decisions and direct the activity of self and others. Is technically skilled at report generation and problem solving.
  • Leads student retention improvement initiatives for each campus program achieving year-over-year improvement each year. Ensure an effective at-risk student monitoring and outreach system, quality academic and nonacademic support services, and a commitment to student success among faculty and staff.
  • Aligned with functional VCs and AVCs ensures strong human resources management through hiring, developing, leading and evaluating an effective management team, staff, and faculty. Manages campus succession plan and professional development program
  • Demonstrates an innovative and entrepreneurial approach to campus improvement.
  • Leads, participates in and coordinates campus outreach activities that generate enrollment through partnerships and affiliation agreements with other organizations.
  • Maintains a desirable, attractive and safe campus environment. Ensures facilities are well maintained. Assesses campus facility needs and ensures that the resources are planned for, acquired and properly implemented; provides input on utilization of resources.
  • Leads the campus in developing and maintaining strong relationships with alumni, community organizations, businesses and colleges/universities to maximize, partnerships, fundraising, alumni placement, new student recruitment and externship opportunities.
  • Maintain campus compliance with University, State, Federal and Programmatic policies and procedures. Plays a role with program leaders in preparing the campus for self-studies, focus visits, and comprehensive visits. Leads the campus in developing and nurturing relationships with regard to programmatic accreditation.
  • Supports institutional planning and research and outcomes assessment activities for the campus. Ensures discussion of research and outcomes at the campus, culminating in appropriate plans and actions. Takes an active leadership role in all departmental reviews conducted at the campus.

  • POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience – Minimum of seven years of highly successful experience in campus leadership roles. In addition, preference will be given to candidates that have at least two years of experience in a full-time campus director or president role.
  • Leadership- Demonstrated experience in leadership with engaging and managing teams.
  • Education – Doctorate from a regionally accredited institution preferred. Master’s degree required. Demonstrates ability to effectively lead faculty and staff in a doctoral degree-granting university.
  • Computer Skills – Experience with computerized administrative systems, including Microsoft. Skilled in the use of Excel. Proficient with the use of data to direct self and others.
  • Communication & Analytical Skills – Ability to read, analyze, and interpret accreditation criteria, state agency regulations, academic journals, business reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to resolve inquiries and complaints, with guidance from others as appropriate, from employees, customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to faculty, academic and campus leaders, corporate leaders, public groups, and boards of directors or trustees as applicable. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.

    Ability to Travel

    The individual must be able to occasionally travel out of the campus area to participate in a variety of conferences and meetings. Frequent travel will be needed related to outreach and awareness activities, or in the development of community partnerships.
