Associate Director of Student Financial Services and Operations

Additional Information

The Associate Director of Student Financial Services and Operations will oversee the day to day operations of cashiering, cash collections, tax intercept program and loan administration, using excellent customer service, financial and accounting skills to help our students maintain good financial standing that will allow them to continue their educational pursuits.

Position Function

Oversee daily operations of the Student Financial Services Office; provide supervision of office personnel in a professional manner.

Minimum Education

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

Minimum Experience

At least five years of customer service experience in a financial institution or university setting. Experience with conflict resolution in a workplace setting; supervisory experience.

Minimum Other

Demonstrated commitment to providing excellent customer service; skilled in effectively managing confrontational situations; must possess excellent communication skills; proficient in Excel.

Authorization to work in the US

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Education

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, or finance.

Preferred Experience

University or financial institution experience with at least three years supervisory experience.

Preferred Other

Ellucian (Banner) ERP system experience, CASHNet, Argos and other report writing skills. Proficient in Access.

Provide information to students, parents, and others regarding regulations relating to student tuition, deferment plan, refunds, penalties, delinquencies, etc. by phone, in-person, and email.

Oversee the collection of delinquent accounts through regular monitoring of account activity by the Accounts Receivable Representatives; scrutinize process for ongoing improvements.

Oversee Third Party Billing (3PB) with accuracy and timeliness. Ensure application of the 3PB payments to specific accounts and timely follow up to collect payment. Reverse sponsor credit on student account for non-payment by sponsor and issue registration hold at semester end when necessary.

Oversee External Billing from departments campus wide. Ensure departments have reporting tools for account follow up on their receivables.

Oversee routine ongoing processing within the office including: processing of dishonored payments, weekly processing of refunds on student accounts, responding to the Student Financial Services inbox, scanning/indexing/retrieval of documents.

Empower staff to make sound decisions while enforcing policies and processing, exhibit flexibility and excellent customer service, knowing when an exception may be appropriate or when a manual removal of a hold is required.

Oversee daily balancing of deposits; audit revolving fund in the safe to verify actual cash on hand and overall security of the area.

Oversee the Tax Intercept Process and maintain relationship with Indiana Department of revenue, including staying informed on new updates and regulations.
