Temporary Licensed Practical Nurse
About the Opportunity
JOB SUMMARY:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works under the Supervision of the Nursing Supervisor and/or the Medical Director to provide services for both preventative health and urgent health care needs for students at Northeastern University presenting to University Health and Counseling Services (UHCS). This is a full-time, 5 day a week, 40 hours a week position. Hours may include 12-4p on Saturdays and one weekday evening (except for July and August).
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Preparing patients for clinical visits and check in process, point of care testing, scheduling follow-up care for patients.
- Providing patient instruction and education as directed by clinical staff.
- Aiding in scheduling follow-up visits for students after clinic visits, hospital or specialist visits.
- Assisting with medication administration in clinic/ vaccinations/therapeutic injections and related duties
- Assisting in facility preparation and maintenance.
- Providing education and support for students regarding self-care and navigation of health systems.
- Providing clinical support and guidance to Medical Assistants.
- Supporting implementation of defined quality assurance standards
- Assisting with management of medical and pharmaceutical supply monitoring.
- Participating in team meetings, peer and qualitative reviews as assigned, staff development programs as assigned and maintaining professional licenses and certifications.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current LPN in Nursing
- Minimum of 2 years nursing experience in ambulatory
setting.
- Current Basic Life Support Certification
- Current, unrestricted, Massachusetts LPN license for practice
through Massachusetts Board of Nursing
- Experience in computer systems required including web based and
Microsoft office applications.
