Job Details
Francis Marion University and the Department of Biology invite applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position to begin in August 2025. We are seeking candidates who have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and research in a public liberal arts setting. A successful candidate will (1) have the expertise to teach courses in human anatomy and kinesiology (ability to teach courses in exercise science, biomechanics, and/or nutrition science, a plus), (2) provide service to the department and university in the form of, but not limited to: academic advising of pre-health students and participation in faculty governance, and (3) develop and maintain an active scholarly research program that engages undergraduate students in collaborative inquiry.
The position is a nine-month, tenure-track contract with a 12:9 contact load across two academic semesters. The candidate will be expected to teach courses which prepare students interested in existing health programs, including Nursing, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Language Pathology, as well as forthcoming programs in Physical Therapy and Physician Assistant Studies.
Academic rank and salary will be commensurate to qualifications and experience. There is potential to teach additional courses during the summer for additional compensation. Generous internal funding for domestic and international travel, research, student scholarship, and summer research stipends are available on a competitive basis.
FMU Requirements: An earned doctorate in biology or a related discipline from an accredited institution. ABD candidates will be considered but must have completed their degree by the start of the 2025 academic year. Some level of previous experience teaching human anatomy is desired.
