Job Summary
The Department of Electrical Engineering in the College of Engineering, The University of Texas at Arlington, invites applications for three faculty positions at tenure-track, assistant professor level to begin in Fall 2025. Exceptional candidates at higher ranks will also be considered. We welcome candidates in strategic growth areas of Semiconductor Manufacturing, Cyberphysical and Control Systems, and Power Systems.
- Candidates in Semiconductor Manufacturing area are expected
with significant experimental research leveraging UTA’s cleanroom
user facilities.
- Candidates in Cyberphysical and Control Systems are expected to
drive the frontier of AI agent research with a solid foundation in
control systems, advancing innovations in autonomous
decision-making and reinforcement learning that integrate with
control actions on Cyberphysical systems.
- Candidates in Power Systems are expected to exhibit deep understanding for one of the major challenges in renewable integration and infrastructure resilience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Faculty in Electrical Engineering are required to:
- Develop and innovate classroom and laboratory instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Establish and lead an independent, student-based research group supported by externally acquired financial support accessing federal, state, local, and/or industrial funding sources.
- Maintain a strong record of academic output such as reviewed journal articles, presentations in national and international conferences, and/or intellectual property.
- Develop and nurture a collaborative network within the EE department, across the UTA campus, other aspirational universities, and with local industry.
- Serve the department, college, and their technical community.
The candidate must have the following attributes by the date of hire:
- A PhD in Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Excellence in research that complements or extends existing
research strengths in the Department of Electrical Engineering, and
the potential to attract external funding.
- Evidence of excellence in teaching or the potential to perform well at both graduate and undergraduate levels in both the classroom and teaching laboratories.

The Department of Electrical Engineering (EE) is part of the College of Engineering (CoE) at UTA, one of the largest engineering colleges in Texas ( https://www.uta.edu/engineering ). Active research areas include semiconductors and photonics, power electronics; renewable energy and energy storage, electric propulsion; power systems, cyber-physical systems, intelligent and autonomous systems; machine learning; environmental sensing; and wireless communications. The EE department has strong support from the College of Engineering and UTA administration to continue its top-tier status in research and teaching excellence. Semiconductors, control systems, and power systems are identified as major focus areas of growth.
