About the Job
The Department of Education at the University of Minnesota Duluth seeks to hire a full-time or part-time colleague to teach in American Sign Language for spring semester 2025. The salary range for this position will be $45,000-$55,000, based on experience. This position will carry the rank of Instructor or Teaching Assistant Professor (depending on qualification) and begins January 2, 2025. Faculty are appointed on a semester or one-year annual basis, depending on the teaching needs of the Department of Education. This position may be renewable for the 2025-26 academic year based on need, funding, and performance. Part-time appointments below 75% do not carry full benefits.
Responsibilities include teaching a range of undergraduate courses in American Sign Language up to 30 credits for the year, advising students, and other teaching-related duties.
Qualifications
Applicants are required to have:
- Master’s degree with a focus in American Sign Language from an accredited institution. (A Bachelor’s Degree with a focus in American Sign Language may be accepted conditionally upon the candidate’s enrollment in a Master’s Program.)
- A commitment to increasing equity and inclusion within the discipline.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated success in broadening inclusivity and supporting all students within the profession.
- One year of full-time teaching experience in the pertinent field of study (ASL) at the college level.
- Ability to teach a range of undergraduate courses in American Sign Language up to 30 credits for the year.
- Experience using technology in teaching.
Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $45,000 - $55,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience
Time Appointment: 75%-100% Appointment
