Vice President for Academic Affairs
Job Description
The Vice President for Academic Affairs will report directly to the President and serve on the President’s Executive Leadership Team. This is a full-time, 12-month position with benefits.
Job Duties:
Supervise the development, offering, and evaluation of instruction. Supervise instructional personnel and seek means of ensuring their continued professional growth. Supervise the Library Director, Director of Learning Resources, Director of PACE and Online Studies, and the Academic Leadership Team. Provide strong academic and administrative leadership and vision for the future. Oversee faculty and academic staff recruitment. Provide development opportunities for faculty. Oversee development and implementation of academic strategic planning. Oversee development of a budget for each academic department and monitor expenditures. Perform periodic academic department reviews. Chair the Academic Affairs Committee, which deals with policy, planning, curriculum, assessment, mission integrity, and academic grievances. Lead the Academic Committee of the Board of Trustees, providing the agenda, making academic proposals, and giving informative reports. Act as an accreditation liaison. Conduct evaluations of faculty and academic staff. Work with the Director of Learning Resources and faculty to evaluate and promote student learning. Work with the Registrar, department chairs, and other academic staff to produce a schedule of classes for traditional, PACE, and online. Oversee instructional technology and promote the use of technology in the classroom. Plan and conduct monthly faculty meetings. Perform other duties as directed by the President.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong written and oral communication skills, detail-oriented, and proactive. Knowledge of Higher Learning Commission accreditation and federal regulations and the ability to provide leadership in maintaining compliance. Strong organizational and critical thinking skills. Proven ability to lead a team with successful outcomes. Proven ability to build relationships with external stakeholders, including alumni, donors, and community leaders.
Qualifications
An earned doctoral degree from a regionally accredited university is required. The successful candidate should have a distinguished record of scholarship, teaching, and academic leadership. Experience in strategic planning, curriculum development, and faculty recruitment preferred. The candidate must support the Christian identity of the college and demonstrate mature faith, a Christian lifestyle, and a strong belief in the Baptist doctrine.
