Assistant Teaching Professor in Mathematical Sciences (Job # 150230)

The School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at Arizona State University invites applications for several full-time, benefits-eligible Assistant Teaching Professor positions in mathematics, statistics, and/or data science. The anticipated start date is August 16, 2025. Subsequent academic year renewals (Aug.16 – May 15) are contingent upon performance, availability of resources, and the needs of the unit. Supplementary summer teaching may be available.
The essential duties will be to teach eight sections of lower-division service-level mathematics and/or statistics classes per academic year, either in-person, online, or both. In addition to instruction, service responsibilities connected with the instructional mission or outreach activities are expected at approximately 20% effort. Examples of such service activities include (but not limited to): committee service, course coordination, curriculum development, TA and new instructor training, the assignment of graders and instructional assistants and activities that benefit K-12 education.

Required Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. degree in mathematics, statistics, mathematics education, or a closely related field by the time of appointment.
- Demonstrated potential for excellence in in-person and/or online instruction.
Desired Qualifications:
- A documented record of excellence in classroom and/or online instruction.
- Experience in teaching and curriculum development in beginning courses in college algebra, business mathematics, engineering mathematics, and/or statistics, both in-person and online formats.
- Demonstrated success working with a wide range of student and/or faculty populations.
- Demonstrated commitment to working with faculty, staff, students and communities to advance the principles of the ASU Charter

- A personal statement addressing the candidate’s teaching experience and philosophy.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness (e.g. student evaluations, peer observations, annual evaluations, etc.).
- Three (3) confidential letters of recommendation that address the teaching and academic credentials.
