POSITION SUMMARY :
The Bachelor of Science in nursing staff member reports to the Dean of Nursing Programs. This is a full time-10-month staff position. Nursing/Paramedic Lab and Simulation Coordinator will participate in developing, implementing, and evaluating educational programming in the Nursing and Paramedic Simulation laboratories. The Nursing/Paramedic Lab and Simulation Coordinator will work with the Nursing and Paramedic Faculty and other Anna Maria College Faculty to promote opportunities for inter-professional education. Primary responsibilities will be teaching in the Nursing and Simulation laboratory and the clinical setting. The Nursing/Paramedic Lab and Simulation Coordinator will assist with conducting simulation scenarios and debriefing sessions. The Nursing/Paramedic Lab and Simulation Coordinator will actively participate in academic program and curriculum committee meetings to integrate simulation experiences in meeting course and program objectives and terminal outcomes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES :
– Provide simulation education experiences to students at an expert level;
– Teach faculty how to use simulation and debrief effectively;
– Possess technological competency in health care equipment, electronic documentation, computer skills, Microsoft Office, and presentation technology;
– Demonstrate expertise in providing skills training, remediation, or tutoring one-on-one or in small groups;
– Collaborate with faculty in identifying needs and developing and implementing creative laboratory learning environments;
– Collaborate with the nursing and paramedic programs to schedule/plan simulation and lab opportunities.
– Collaborate with the nursing and paramedic programs to order equipment simulation and lab opportunities.
– Successful grant-writing to support technology and equipment acquisitions a plus;
– Holds open labs and clinical experiences during unscheduled student class lab hours;
– Advises students in their academic curriculum plan;
– Practices exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills;
– Trends student performance and assessment data and makes recommendations for systematic program evaluation;
– Submit recommendations for equipment, materials, and supplies;
– Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
EXPECTED RESULTS :
Comprehensive simulation lab for nursing education program that will support and enhance achievement of course and program objectives.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY :
Supervise and mentor nursing students in laboratory and simulation settings.
CONTACTS:
– Maintain verbal, written, and/or electronic communication with current and potential nursing students.
– Communicate with alumni for program feedback and support.
– Establish and maintain community connections.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO REACH ACCEPTABLE PERFORMANCE:
– Hold an advanced degree in Nursing; e.g., earned bachelor’s degree in nursing, or possess an earned master’s or doctorate in nursing. With a bachelor’s in nursing, the candidate must be enrolled in a master’s in nursing program.
– Hold an unencumbered Massachusetts Registered Nurse license in good standing.
– Possess a minimum of three years full-time nursing experience (or its equivalent) within the last five years with evidence of laboratory or simulation competence.
– Maintain expertise appropriate to teaching responsibilities.
– Provide documentation of current Healthcare Provider CPR requirements.
