Description
The Facilities Development and Maintenance department at Governors State University is seeking to hire a Building Service Worker. The primary aim is to support the University in its mission of quality education by providing clean rooms, offices, corridors and restrooms; effective and safe cleaning practices, preserve the equipment, and extend the life of the structure.
Essential Responsibilities
20% Vacuum and clean the carpet.
20% Collect trash and recyclables and place in appropriate dumpster.
20% Clean and restock classrooms, laboratories, athletic facilities, and restrooms.
12% Mop, sweep, scrub and wax floors and other surfaces.
12% Wash windows, door glass and interior glass.
5% Clean, dust and wax furniture, exhibit cases, fixtures, windowsills, doors, trim and related items.
5% Operate automatic scrubbers and sweepers.
2% Report equipment in need of repair to supervisor staff.
2% Remove snow and provide salt at all building entrances.
2% Perform related duties as assigned.
Other Responsibilities:
Perform special clean-ups when requested due to accidents or emergencies.
Hourly Wages:
Probationary rate of pay: $17.39 per hour
MONDAY – FRIDAY 6:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M.
(This is an unionized position. Salary starts at the base up to an additional 5% based on Education and Experience exceeding the minimum qualifications per union contract).

Required and Preferred Qualifications

1. Must be a resident of the state of Illinois.
2. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
3. Must have a valid Illinois Driver’s License.
