Research and Creative Activity Peer Mentors are undergraduate and graduate students who help guide and encourage fellow AUM students through research and creative activity projects. They are class leaders who act as a support system by helping students understand research and creative activity project processes and expectations.
Peer mentors receive priority registration for the semester for which they mentor.

Duties and Responsibilities:
· Uphold AUM’s mission and build community in and out of the classroom
· Work with faculty on a research/creative activity project (within or outside of a course)
· Mentor a first-time student participating in research/creative activity
· Clock in and out when working (20 hours per week maximum inclusive of all AUM positions)
· Commit to present work at a future Research and Creative Activity event
· Offer student perspectives in discussions and encourage reflection
· Coordinate and attend AUM events with students
· Connect students with campus resources and services
· Model appropriate behavior and maintain confidentiality ( FERPA, Title IX)
· Keep communication open with professors and complete interaction logs
· Complete assessments or surveys as needed
· Complete training and attend all scheduled meetings

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Experience working on research and/or creative activity projects
· Dedicated to helping others succeed
· Confident in your ability to lead
· Able to speak in front of a classroom of students
· Comfortable leading group discussions

Qualifications and Requirements:
· Undergraduate and graduate students may apply
· Previously completed research/creative activity under the direction of an AUM faculty member
· Have a minimum 3.0 GPA

· Statement of approved research/creative activity with faculty (500 words or less)
