Messina College at Boston College Full-Time, Non-Tenure Track Position - Applied Developmental & Educational Psychology
Messina College at Boston College invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of the Practice of Applied Psychology & Human Development. We are interested in developmental or educational psychology scholars whose research and teaching interests are informed by sociocultural and ecological factors in children's or youth's learning and development. For candidates with considerable teaching experience, a higher rank may be considered. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track position with a three-year renewable contract, to begin in the summer session - June 30, 2025. The teaching load is 6 courses per year with the expectation of summer instruction. This position also involves college service and advising students at Messina College.
About Messina College
Messina College is a new two-year residential college division of Boston College that offers an associate's degree program for 100 first-generation and low-income students annually. The program's goal is to prepare students to enroll in a bachelor's degree program or begin their professional careers. Messina College students live and study on the Brookline Campus of Boston College and have full access to BC's facilities and programs.

This position is a joint position with teaching, by coordination with the Dean of Messina College and the respective chair, and interaction with faculty members of the Applied Developmental and Educational Psychology program in the Lynch School of Education and Human Development at Boston College.
Qualifications
Our priority is to hire an outstanding educator, qualified to teach and further develop a first year seminar taken by all Messina College students during summer session, as well as courses in the Applied Psychology and Human Development major. We seek candidates with genuine interest and expertise in working with first-generation college students from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds. Requirements include a Ph.D. in Developmental or Educational Psychology (or other related fields) and several years of college teaching experience.
Application Instructions
A completed application should contain a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, a teaching statement (and evaluations when available), an advising/mentoring statement, and three letters of recommendation. Two of the letters of recommendation should primarily focus on the candidate's teaching. The teaching statement should indicate the candidate's pedagogical approach, outline the courses they may offer, and highlight any relevant teaching experience with first-generation students. Review of applications begins December 1, 2024, and will continue until the position is filled.
