The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for a renewable three-year appointment as Teaching Assistant Professor in Chinese language, beginning July 1, 2025.

The Teaching Assistant Professor position will teach six language courses per academic year, covering levels from introductory to advanced, and will play an active role in collaborative program activities and affairs and perform other departmental service. 

The position requires a master’s degree in teaching Chinese as a foreign language or a related field; native or near-native proficiency in Chinese and English; and familiarity with the methodologies and technologies used in teaching Mandarin Chinese at the university level in North America.

1.    A letter of application outlining the candidate's teaching philosophy.
2.    A curriculum vitae.
3.    Sample syllabi 
4.    Unedited teaching video of a 50-minute Chinese language class, in standard MOV or MP4 format
5.    Names and contact information for two professional references, who will be contacted to submit letters of recommendation
