Job Details
The Hasan School of Business (HSB) is the premier provider of business education in the southern Colorado region, providing high-quality undergraduate and graduate education for a diverse student population, preparing students to become leaders in business, government, and industry. The HSB is AACSB-accredited and consists of 24 full-time faculty and approximately 15 adjunct faculty serving over 500 undergraduate and 50 graduate students. It offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Business Administration (BSBA) with several different majors including Management, Marketing, Economics and Accounting; a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems (CIS); and a Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) in Management and Leadership. It also offers an MBA program with an exceptionally robust 3+2 program where students can complete their Bachelor’s degree and MBA in five years.
With an enrollment of nearly 4,000 students, Colorado State University Pueblo is a fully accredited, regional comprehensive state university that provides social, educational, and cultural opportunities to its constituents. Description of Job
The Dean of the School of Business drives the college's strategic vision, fostering innovation, collaboration, and fiscal responsibility. This full-time administrative professional position strengthens fundraising efforts, builds community relationships, and champions student success through recruitment, retention, and program analysis. The Dean leads curriculum advancement, ensuring academic excellence and regional distinction in business programs. By recruiting and mentoring top faculty, the Dean cultivates a culture of trust and professional growth. This position engages with both university and community initiatives, ensuring the college thrives and contributes to the surrounding community and region.
Primary Duties:
Works Collaboratively. Develops an Environment of Trust.
- Provides leadership to the School of Business and strengthens relationships with different stakeholders for the HSB.
- Develops and cultivates a strategic vision for the college.
- Communicates the goals of the University and HSB to faculty, staff, students and community.
- Collaborates with other deans and the provost on academic policies and procedures, academic concerns and issues, and student retention and recruitment issues.
Strengthens Fundraising and Corporate Engagement:
- Strengthens relationships with external community and regional partners.
- Recruits and cultivates new and continuing external donors for annual giving and endowment.
- Identifies and supports federal and other external grant writing as well as legislative funding.
- Identifies and pursues funding partnerships.
Supports a Culture of Student Success:
- Leads the school’s academic programs to ensure the highest quality.
- Provides leadership in the development and review of curriculum.
- Analyzes data from programs to ensure student success, identify trends, and develop future plans.
- Supports and leads academic and student success initiatives.
- Supports and leads assessment and accreditation efforts.
- Oversees, leads and approves the development of appropriate and effective schedules of degree, classes and teaching assignments.
Engages Student Recruitment and Retention:
- Supports and leads student recruitment and retention efforts in the HSB.
- Identifies best practices to increase enrollment.
Advances the Curriculum and Quality of Academic Programs:
- Leads reporting and accreditation activities
- Prepares and submits reports for AACSB, CCCHE and the Board of Governors of the CSU System
- Maintains AACSB accreditation by working with faculty and AACSB.
- Prepares and manages accreditation visits.
- Leads assessment activities. Stays abreast of best practices and ensures that HSB maintains active and effective assurance of learning activities.
Develops and Advances Professional Development and Recruitment
- Determines and develops best practices to attract and retain high quality faculty and staff members.
- Mentors faculty and professional staff.
- Facilitates and approves professional development activities.
- Encourages faculty and staff to apply for grants and submit publications.
- Evaluates faculty and staff. Recommends tenure, promotion, continuation or termination of faculty.
- Resolves personnel issues in accordance with policy and procedure.
- Recommends disciplinary action to the Provost when appropriate.
- Considers and works with faculty to develop an appropriate mix of curriculum.
Promotes and Executes Sound Fiscal Management
Develops, tracks and is responsible for HSB’s budgets. Develops annual operating budgets and ensures that university resources are efficiently allocated and utilized. Monitors and maintains budgetary controls and accountability.

Minimum Qualifications
- PhD from an accredited institution
+
MBA or Master’s degree in one of the discipline areas of the HSB - Excellent written communication skills
- At least five years of management or administrative experience
- Experience working in a shared governance environment
- Minimum three years (3) experience at a culturally diverse institution
- Professional experience with building community partnerships and fundraising
- Experience in budget preparation and fiscal management
- Experience in a position or activity that required excellent verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in a discipline of the HSB
- At least five years (5) higher education administrative experience in leadership positions working with faculty and administration
- Extensive experience developing business community partnerships leading to experiential curriculum or experiential opportunities for students
- Experience working in a culturally diverse educational environment.
- Experience with online programs and graduate programs
- An understanding of the business environment and an ability to identify emerging business trends for students and the HSB
- Experience with AACSB review
- Experience developing and utilizing community advisory boards
- Experience in teaching, research and service sufficient to warrant appointment as a tenured full professor
