University of Colorado Denver | College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
Department: History
Job Title: Instructor - ICB
Position #: 00653203 – Requisition #: 35114
Job Summary:
The Department of History at the University of Colorado Denver invites applications for a full-time (0.9 FTE) Instructor at the International College Beijing (ICB) beginning in Spring 2025. We seek to hire a colleague who can teach a wide range of History courses to support the core liberal arts curriculum and deliver the history minor, such as Introduction to Modern European History, US History to 1876, and US History since 1876. Above all else, we seek a dynamic teacher committed to best practices in student-centered pedagogy and advancing intercultural historical learning to support students in developing critical thinking skills. ICB is a unique international collaboration, so the ideal candidate will teach and mentor students to see how history connects to their lives, remaining open to the surprises that intercultural exchange can bring.
The teaching load is 8 courses per academic year (4 in fall and 4 in spring). The instructor is responsible for teaching a range of history courses and will also assume 10% of their duties in service roles selected in consultation with the Department Chair. These service roles may include advising students on the history minor, serving as Faculty Director of student clubs at ICB, corresponding with ICB students transferring to Denver, and other tasks in conversation with the Chair.
