Indiana University Kokomo invites applications for a Visiting Lecturer in History, with a start date of January 1, 2025 and continuing through the Spring 2026 semester (3 semesters). We seek applicants with an educational background and teaching experience in American History.
One of eight campuses of Indiana University, Indiana University Kokomo is a comprehensive non-residential campus located 50 miles north of Indianapolis in Kokomo, Indiana, with a population of about 57,000. Committed to student success, the campus serves approximately 3,300 students from a 14-county area in north-central Indiana. IU Kokomo has around 260 full-time faculty and staff. M.A. in History required (Ph.D. preferred). Candidates are expected to be effective teachers, and an active research agenda is preferred. Teaching experience preferred. Appropriate university/professional/community service is also expected.
The Visiting Lecturer will teach four courses per semester, including general education/foundational history courses, upper-level classes, and online graduate classes in 19th and 20th Century US History. Topically, these could include (but are not limited to) courses on post-WWII history, the 1960s, and women’s history and pre-WWII and 19th century topics are welcome as well. They will be required to teach in both online and in-person formats.
