Position Summary

DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for the management of Desktop Support staff and the coordination of Desktop Support projects, including the technical direction, maintenance, and support of York College and YCDS computer-related equipment.

OUTCOMES :
A reliable and secure client computing infrastructure to support all academic and administrative technology related functions.

Essential Functions
  • Management of all functionality of the Desktop Support Group, including technical direction and support of all college-owned computers, mobile devices, and peripherals and their interface to the York College Network 30%
  • Management and training of all Desktop Support employees. 20%
  • Oversee all Desktop projects, such as; technical development of master images, hardware distribution, software updates for standardized computers, and co-management of the ITSM 20%
  • Responsible for hardware/software acquisition and inventory maintenance 10%
  • Provide vision and guidance in preparing for future hardware and software products 10%
  • Work with academic and administrative departments to proactively address problems and ongoing technology needs or requests 5%
  • Work collaboratively and innovatively with other LTS Group 5%
Experience and Education Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • 5 or more years’ experience with Windows Operating Systems, Macintosh OS X, and other UNIX systems including Solaris and Linux
  • 2 or more years’ experience with the Windows Registry and Group Policy Editor in a network environment
  • Understanding of computer security principles
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Extensive knowledge of Windows and OS X in a networked environment
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Active Directory
  • Working knowledge of computer hardware and printers
  • Ability to troubleshoot and maintain application software in a network environment
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently without direction
  • Sufficient mobility and dexterity to conduct job responsibilities, including lifting up to 35lbs
