Job Description Summary
The Department of History at Auburn University seeks applications for a tenure-track appointment in Native American History at the rank of assistant professor, with expertise in the Indigenous History of North America before 1877. The successful candidate will develop upper-level undergraduate and graduate courses in their area of specialty, teach the the first half of the US survey in rotation, and contribution to Auburn’s core curriculum in world history. In-person instruction is expected.
Minimum Qualifications
A Ph.D. in History or a related field is required at the time employment begins; outstanding candidates who are ABD will be considered but completion of the degree is expected prior to the start of the appointment in August 16, 2025.
The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the term of employment.

The Auburn History Department welcomes applications from candidates whose research, teaching, background, and/or outreach strengthen the department’s ability to offer wide range of perspectives to our students at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
