The Ohio University Gladys W. and David H. Patton College of Education, Department of Teacher Education is accepting applications for an Assistant Professor of Instruction in Special Education (Non-Tenure Track) position. Candidates should have experience developing, analyzing, evaluating, and implementing evidence-based methods of instruction and collaboration for students receiving support and services under IDEA in inclusive settings with attention to all intersections of identity. Candidates must be committed to teaching excellence, a clinical approach to teacher education, and service delivery within inclusive settings. Candidates will be teaching in face-to-face undergraduate and online graduate licensing programs. We expect candidates will support our mission of developing life-long learners and strong advocates; providing co-taught, field-intensive, interdisciplinary experiences; and serving diverse individuals using an assets-based viewpoint. We seek candidates with a commitment to student success by working effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds. Candidates must be committed to working with individuals with all intersections of identity.
Responsibilities
- Teaching in online graduate and face-to-face undergraduate programs, advising, and field supervision
- Developing and revising graduate and undergraduate courses in special education teacher preparation
- Engaging in service to college, department, program, and field-based professions; and collaboration with colleagues and school-based partners to ensure program quality and maintain CAEP accreditation.
Minimum Qualifications
- Earned doctorate in Special Education or a related field (by the time of hire)
- A minimum of three years of experience providing direct services and supports to individuals with disabilities aged 3-22
- Demonstrated commitment to student success and/or teaching excellence in higher education and building inclusive learning spaces.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching and clinical supervision in-person and online in Higher Education
- Experience supporting students with higher support needs in inclusive settings and across community landscapes
- Expertise, experience, and/or background in a minimum of two of the following areas: Inclusive math methods; universal, targeted, and/or individualized behavioral supports; diagnostic assessment; use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and related supports; edTPA; instructional methods and adaptations for student with disabilities
