Position Summary

The person is this position provides high level technical expertise for classroom audio/video solutions, specialized lab operations, and A/V control and monitoring systems, and configurations. This position assists in supporting remote access, data capturing solution for learning/collaboration spaces on campus.

The person in this position operates and performs maintenance/backup of complex systems and software components. They aid in the assessment of hardware and software components to meet the needs across multiple service operations. The person in this position works collaboratively with the team to optimize equipment and software configurations and settings. Assists in monitoring software application licensing and installation.

This position evaluates client needs and requests. They provide creative and technical guidance, develop concepts, and execute those concepts to meet system, and audio/video requirements and performance standards.

The person in this position programs/codes systems and subsystems and develops documentation to support new or modified systems. This person may provide training for user groups or other technical staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Audio/Video Technology Expertise
  • Designs, test and/or modifies complex technology solutions to meet university requirements.
  • Develops specialized configurations and programming for in-room as well as remote A/V management solutions. Reviews solutions with end users and ensures requirements are met.
  • Develops user-friendly interfaces for system controller and automation functions.
  • Responsible for providing technical expertise for audio and video systems, computer configuration and/or programming, and possible network requirements.
Creative Expertise
  • Provides application development and programming in support of the campus’ classroom technology architecture.
  • Verifies user needs and modifies standard operations/solutions to support academic requirements.
  • Closely works with end-users to demonstrate proper using of systems components and settings.
Computer and System Programming
  • Analyzes, develops, tests, and/or modifies A/V software programming solutions to meet user and/or systems integration requirements.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and recommends the best approach and overall design for integrating computer applications into various technology designs.
  • Advises senior personnel concerning the magnitude of programming jobs, as well as time requirements for programming and testing. Installs new/modified software solutions or updates.
  • Integrates existing software and creates special-purpose software to ensure efficiency and integrity between systems and applications.
  • May assist in installing system components and hardware.
Policy/Procedure Development
  • Prepares documentation to support area IT functions and provide user support for new or modified application and programming solutions.
  • Maintains and supports assigned systems with documented testing and development of procedures to minimize downtime and loss of service continuity.
  • Evaluates and supplements vendor supplied documentation for third party solutions.
Supervision
  • Supervise projects and acts as team leader on assigned projects.
  • Monitors the progress and direction of assigned tasks and takes corrective action as needed.
  • Assists in determining training needs and provides training opportunities for other staff members and/or end users.
Collaboration
  • Develop concepts and execute them to meet both departmental and university requirements.
  • Able to independently manage, produce and execute their own projects.
Network Understanding
  • Consults on the design, and installation of network components for the team’s technology solutions. Performs installation of computers and peripheral equipment on the network and monitors the system to provide optimal quality to the end-users.
  • Develops and monitors security protocols associated with restricted access systems.
  • Knowledge of network management and functionality, wiring/cabling.

Minimum Required Qualifications (Civil Service)

CREDENTIALS TO BE VERIFIED BY PLACEMENT OFFICER

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

2. Any one of the following:

a. Associate’s degree in Information Technology or media-related field AND five (5) years of work experience in media-related field

OR

b. Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or media-related field AND three (3) years of work experience in media-related field

OR

c. Seven (7) years of experience in Information technology or media-related field
