8:00am - 4:30pm (summer)

Job Description:
Admissions Counselors are the front line of the Office of Admissions. This entry level position is essential to our ability to recruit and enroll qualified and diverse student populations to meet the enrollment and financial goals of the University. Job duties include interviewing and counseling prospective students and their families on admissions and the distinctive qualities of the Syracuse University experience, conducting information sessions, recruitment travel and evaluating applications for admission. In addition, this counselor supports the administrative functions of the various teams in the office. While this position will support all recruitment and admissions initiatives, the primary focus will be to support, as needed, the coordination of events on and off campus; University 100, Campus Tour Guides and special group visits.

Responsibilities:
  • Communicate the value of a Syracuse University experience through presentations, interviews, and other recruitment events.
  • Respond to email, phone, virtual and in person communication, i.e., daily activity to respond to prospective students, parents, families, and counselors.
  • Assist the events team, as assigned, with the coordination and implementation of events related to campus/field programs, the University 100 Student Tour Guides, group visit requests and daily campus visits.
  • Participate fully in recruitment activities as an admissions officer, including recruitment travel, presentations, interviewing, and correspondence with school officials, parents, and prospective students.
  • Read application and evaluate credentials for admission as a leader of an admissions selection team.
  • Recommend admission decisions in support of University enrollment goals and priorities.
  • Meet all numeric targets for review within specified timeframe.
  • Conduct evaluative interviews of prospective students
