Payroll Specialist
Location: Moscow

Position Summary:
This position will participate in processing and transmitting university payroll transactions and ensuring compliance with all university, state and federal payroll-related policies, laws and regulations. This role ensures transactions are processed accurately and on time, reviewing and resolving discrepancies expeditiously. They serve as an expert resource for the campus community, providing training related training related to payroll, tax and withholding-related processes and requirements.
Duties may include:
- Enter, verify and reconcile information for the biweekly payroll
- Verify and transmit direct deposit transfers
- Develop and submit payroll, retirement and tax reports
- Review and audit payroll transactions
- Calculate and process tax withholdings
- Reconcile wages and deductions
- Maintain employee payroll records
- Participate in reviewing and adjusting processing procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Two years related to payroll and payroll taxes, including preparing payroll (processing time sheets and preparing payroll calculations); a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance or accounting may substitute for experience
- Using computer software and applications for research and compiling financial information to prepare summaries and reports
- Analyzing and interpreting financial information and reports using accounting theory, principles and pratices
- Composing a variety of business documents with attention to grammar, punctuation and detail as demonstrated in application materials
- Working in a customer service-oriented team environment to accomplish shared goals
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working in a public and/or university financial and payroll environment
- Demonstrated ability to resolve sensitive and sometimes confrontational situations
- Knowledge of Banner information system
