Position Summary:
The Department of Biology at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biology specializing in health sciences. This is a full-time, nine-month, position starting in August of 2025.
We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in anatomy or physiology, laboratory experience, and the ability to teach courses such as Human Anatomy & Physiology, Human Gross Anatomy, Public Health, or Neurobiology. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, collaborative, and passionate about undergraduate education.

Responsibilities:
- Teach multiple existing courses (e.g., Human Anatomy & Physiology, Human Gross Anatomy, Unity of Life, Fundamentals of Biological Investigation) and develop and teach courses within their area of expertise. The typical teaching load is 12 credits per semester.
- Engage in evidence-informed pedagogy to teach undergraduate students in classroom and laboratory settings.
- Additional responsibilities include:
- Serve as student academic advisor and provide career advising/mentorship to pre-healthcare students.
- Actively participate in research, scholarship, and professional activities.
- Engage in service to the department, college, university, profession, and public.
- Other duties may be assigned by the Department Chair.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- Doctorate or terminal degree (PhD, MD, DO, DC, DPT, etc.) in anatomy or physiology, biology, or closely related field. An ABD (all but dissertation), if hired, will be contractually obligated to have earned their degree by January 1, 2026.
- Ability to teach undergraduate courses in Biology including Anatomy & Physiology.
- Two semesters or more of undergraduate teaching experience during or after completion of graduate school.
- A strong commitment to undergraduate education and a willingness to collaborate with both students and faculty.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.

The Department of Biology in the College of Business, Industry, Life Sciences and Agriculture have 12 full-time tenure-track positions and regularly employ an additional 2 instructional academic staff and 3 support staff. The undergraduate program offers a BS in Biology with several emphases (botany, comprehensive, ecology, general, health sciences, molecular/genetics, nursing, secondary education, and zoology). We emphasize experiential learning and have up-to-date, well-equipped labs and classrooms in recently renovated Boebel Hall. With around 310 students, the Biology major is the third largest major on-campus.
