The Department of Statistics at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign invites applications for an open rank faculty (Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) position in Statistics and Data Science (100% for 9 months). All areas of Statistics and Data Science are welcome.

The Department of Statistics is a vibrant, growing department with nearly 1000 undergraduate majors and 200 graduate students, and a rich history of research in statistical theory, methods and computation, as well as machine learning and other interdisciplinary applications.

Successful candidates are expected to teach effectively at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, establish and maintain an active and independent research program, and provide service to the department, the university and the profession. We particularly encourage applications from candidates who can contribute through their research, teaching and service to the diversity and excellence of the department and university community. Applicants at the assistant professor level should provide evidence of potential for research and high-quality teaching excellence. Applicants at the associate/full professor level should provide evidence of established research and teaching excellence appropriate for appointment with tenure.

Candidates are required to have a Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Science or a related field at time of appointment. The anticipated starting date is August 16, 2025.  Candidates who will complete all the Ph.D. requirements within the first appointment year may be appointed at the rank of Instructor. After the Ph.D. requirement is met, the appointment will be changed to Assistant Professor. The budgeted salary range for the position is $130,000 to $140,000 at the Assistant Professor level, $140,000 to $160,000 at the Associate Professor level, and $160,000 to $230,000 at the Full Professor level, for a 9-month service basis.

For Associate/Full Professor applicants:
