JOB SUMMARY :
Under the supervision of the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Assistant Vice President, Strategic and Transformative Initiatives will provide tactical support to advance innovative student success initiatives through high-impact collaborations with both campus (internal) stakeholders and external entities. The ideal candidate will be a talented practitioner with experience as a seasoned manager and the capacity to motivate and influence others toward productive change. The Assistant Vice President will have a proven track record of developing and managing collaborative relationships, facilitating progressive organizational change, and leading high-visibility projects with cross-functional stakeholders. The incumbent will leverage internal and external collaborations to achieve success while working closely with key campus stakeholders (e.g., Student Affairs; Career Services; Enrollment and Student Success; Office of Development & Alumni Relations; Academic Colleges/Schools; Athletics; Research and Innovation; etc.) to realize desired outcomes.

Essential Duties Summary
  • Provide leadership for the ongoing implementation of a strategic vision for improving student success outcomes at Texas Southern University through deep collaborations with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Leverage data from organizational health assessments and other sources to guide the implementation of innovative campus transformation activities.
  • Establish and nurture collaborations with academic colleges/schools to bridge the gap between academic learning, enrollment services, and student affairs, fostering a seamless student experience from acceptance to graduation.
  • Promote a culture of learning and development to improve process outcomes and long-term sustainability.
  • Ensure that programs, initiatives, and collaborations are aligned with Texas Southern University’s short- and long-term strategic goals, as well as academic and student success priorities.
  • Promote a positive image of the University by representing the institution in community, state, and regional activities.
  • Manage grants and other assigned resources to support high-impact transformation activities at the institution.
  • Assist the university with prospect identification and opportunity cultivation for business and operational transformation activities.
  • Support special projects and other duties as assigned to advance the University’s strategic direction.

$97,093.00 - $145,640.00

Education

An earned Master’s Degree in Counseling, Education, Business, or related field.

Doctorate Degree (Ph.D./Ed.D./JD) preferred.

Work Experience

A minimum of seven (7) years of progressive professional experience. Demonstrated experience in cross-functional, enterprise-level initiatives that improve organizational performance through strategic change management and process improvement.

Previous experience with student success initiatives in the higher education setting preferred.

Working/Environmental Conditions
  • Sitting or standing in one location much of the time.
  • Some stooping, lifting, or carrying objects lightweight may be required.
  • Use of video display terminal.
