The Transfer and Transition Center is seeking (2) Academic Advisor I to join the already awesome team taking the Transfer and Transition Center to the next level of excellence!

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Transfer and Transition Center performs advanced level academic advisement functions such as facilitating transfer articulation, onboarding advisement, assist in the transition process from Perimeter to Atlanta campus, including local and transfer course review for degree audit adjustments. We are seeking to recruit two Academic Advisor I position to conduct individual and group student academic advisement, to assist with transfer credit questions and reviews or assist with transition reviews, and to interpret and implement university policies and procedures in the areas of student enrollment and evaluation. A successful candidate for this position must be dedicated to encouraging student success with high attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
- Advises prospective and current transfer and transition students about academic requirements and selection of courses using advising systems and technologies and will disseminate information on university policies and procedures to faculty, parents, students, etc.
- Assists with transfer articulation for all incoming students as part of the daily work routine, initial degree works audit reviews and course adjustments.
- Serves as an intermediary between transfer or transition students, GSU Advisement Offices, Registrar’s office, departments, and when necessary, relevant partners at other institutions.
- Performs outreach for the unit including on campus events for recruiting or information tables.
- May provide graduation checkouts and audits management for reverse transfer.
- Maintains and updates current student records on student information system.
- May assist in conducting orientation sessions for groups of incoming students.
- Compares transcripts with entrance and graduation requirements and advises students on appropriate actions.
- Assists in the preparation of special reports relating to enrollment and related matters.
- Evaluates and maintains student records for degree requirements using an academic evaluation system and monitors student registration activities and matriculation.
- Sends communications to students regarding the opening of course registration, program deadlines and major requirements, and academic resources.
- Monitors and tracks the retention, progression, and graduation of all students within the assigned population and may offer proactive outreach.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Hiring Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and one year of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
Preferred Hiring Qualifications:
Preference may be given to those with a bachelor’s degree and one year of experience working within student retention or student affairs programs.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills along with critical thinking skills.
- Experience presenting to groups or with group facilitation.
- Competent technical skills such as Banner, Excel, OCR, or other SIS applications.
· Excellent customer service skills, phone and e-mail etiquette
