Part-Time Instructor, Veterinary Technology - FY 2025



Job Description

Applications will be considered on an as-needed basis determined by department need. This position may close early if the hiring need is filled or do to volume of applications received.

The responsibilities of part-time teaching faculty are:
  • Advise students as needed.
  • Instruct veterinary didactic courses, laboratories and supervise students on clinical rotations as assigned by the Program Director.
  • Perform clinical duties as required in the CSN Veterinary Nursing Teaching Clinic.
  • Maintain student records, i.e., grades, attendance, exams, assignments, competencies, etc.
  • Maintain current knowledge of general veterinary medicine procedures and techniques through continuing professional development.
  • Participate in AVMA-CVTEA accreditation activities to support the continuing accreditation of the Veterinary Nursing program at CSN.
  • Participate in program, department, school, and college-wide committees.
  • Assignments may be multi-campus with the possibility of day, evening, and/or weekend classes.
  • Additional related duties include academic advising, curriculum development, and service to the institution and community.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology or Nursing, OR Associate degree in veterinary technology or nursing from an accredited College/ University.
  • Must be currently licensed as a veterinarian OR a veterinary technician (nurse) in the State of Nevada.
  • 2 years professional experience as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in clinical practice OR in an academic setting or as a veterinary nurse in clinical practice.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous teaching experience in veterinary medicine.
  • Previous teaching experience in higher education.
  • 1 year of experience teaching at a community college.
  • Experience teaching and/or working with a diverse/multicultural student body and/or workforce.
  • Experience with curriculum development.
  • Experience teaching online courses.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of course and classroom management.
  • Experience developing and implementing field trips for undergraduates to local/regional areas of interest.


Salary Information:

$925 per credit for lectures and $46.25 per hour for labs and clinicals

Schedule:

Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
