Job Description:
The Office of Research (OoR) seeks an experienced Associate Director of Research Data & Analytics to manage and enhance the research data ecosystem related to the University's research and creative mission. Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance & Research Initiatives, this position plays a pivotal role in developing and implementing a holistic research data strategy, which will support data-informed decision-making and strategic planning. The Associate Director will create and disseminate best practices related to data governance, management, quality, and reporting of research data in collaboration with OoR departments and campus partners. The successful candidate will develop and present dashboards and reports and will make recommendations for improving workflows and data stewardship processes with the goal of optimizing the university's data reporting capacity of research performance metrics and producing consistent and accurate information to key internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
- Manage development and implementation of a holistic research data strategy, which involves collaborating with various stakeholders to understand and translate research information needs into deliverables that facilitate operational management and leadership decision-making related to the University's research and creative mission.
- Create and disseminate best practices and guidance related to data governance, management, quality, and reporting of research data in collaboration with Office of Research departments and campus partners across the schools/colleges, institutes, and central administrative units.
- Advocate for high data quality and standards and maintain knowledge of industry best practices.
- Make recommendations for improving workflows and data stewardship processes with the goal of optimizing the university's data reporting capacity of research performance metrics and producing consistent and accurate information to key internal and external stakeholders.
- Design, create, maintain, and present sophisticated dashboards, reports, and data visualizations for key research-related performance metrics using Tableau and similar business intelligence tools.
- Create and maintain internal data validation reports to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
- Develop and disseminate documentation and training to campus users about sponsored research data and reporting and about related processes and best practices.
- Provide project management support and streamline standard reporting processes related to sponsored research data especially for external reporting requirements and stakeholders (ex. NSF HERD survey, US News)
- Other duties as assigned.
