Job Summary
The Division of General Pediatrics in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Utah School of Medicine is recruiting a Nurse Practitioner. This part time nurse practitioner will join a growing clinical team of general pediatricians. Responsibilities include pediatric primary care ambulatory services focused mainly at our Sugar House Health Center and University Pediatric Clinic locations. Additional services at other locations may be required, depending on clinical need. The Nurse Practitioner will work collaboratively with the entire care team to deliver excellent primary care
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- The Nurse Practitioner will provide pediatric primary care ambulatory services at our Sugar House Health Center and University Pediatric Clinic, in collaboration with a team of physicians, medical assistants, and care managers.
- Conduct patient evaluations, including obtaining histories, performing physical examinations, making diagnoses, creating and managing treatment plans and documenting clinical encounters.
- Participation in clinic(s) and division quality improvement initiatives.
Work Environment and Level of Frequency that may be required:Nearly Continuously: Office environment.
Often: Infectious disease, oils (there is air or skin exposure to oils or other cutting fluids), hazards (includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, or exposure to chemicals).
Physical Requirements and Level of Frequency that may be required:Nearly Continuously: Hearing, listening, talking.
Often: Repetitive hand motion (such as typing), walking, standing, sitting.
Seldom: Bending, reaching overhead.
Comments: Employee must be able to meet the following requirements with or without an accommodation.
- This position involves intensive work that may exert up to 100 pounds and may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise moving objects, such as medical equipment, or patients while providing medical care. Workers in this position may be exposed to infectious diseases and may be required to function around prisoners and behavioral health patients.
The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.
Minimum Qualifications
Required
Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah.
Preferred
Certification in ACLS/BLS/NRP/ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria.
Utah State prescriptive privileges.
Licensure is obtained by completing a Master's degree in Nursing or equivalency (the only equivalency to the Master's degree is current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner) and a National Certification which requires the successful completion of a nationally accredited examination.
UHPPM 1-56 requires that newly hired non-physician providers apply for credentialing and privileging at the time of hire.
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements. We protect our patients, coworkers and community by requiring all patient-sensitive employees to be immunized according to CDC standards and hospital policy. Limited exemptions may be made for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations.

Work Schedule Summary: Part-time, non-benefited, average of 18 hours per week. Monday through Friday, schedule availability from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Some additional hours may be required based on operational needs, which may include a requirement to occasionally work on Saturdays.
