Assistant, Associate to Professor DOQ
Details
The Department of Oncological Sciences and Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) invite applications for tenure-track faculty positions at the assistant or associate/full professor levels. We seek outstanding cancer researchers who will complement and extend existing strengths in the Department. HCI provides an outstanding environment, with state-of-the-art facilities, excellent shared resources, access to clinical samples for research, and NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center designation in a collegial and collaborative Department culture. We encourage applications from candidates with innovative research programs in the following areas:
1. Cancer Biology and Data Science:
We seek outstanding scientists centered on cancer biology and/or data science programs that address fundamental questions in cancer. Candidates should lead innovative cancer-focused programs in areas such as hematologic and solid tumors, including children's and hormone-driven cancers, tumor cell microenvironment, metastasis, signaling, metabolism, mechanics, and therapeutics. Candidates' research programs should apply modern and innovative cancer research approaches, such as genetically-engineered and patient-derived cancer models, genomics, data science, and artificial intelligence.
2. Cancer Predisposition Genetics:
We seek outstanding scientists centered on an area of historic strength at HCI and the University of Utah, cancer predisposition genetics. Candidates should lead innovative cancer-focused programs on topics spanning from cancer susceptibility gene identification through analyses of polygenic risk scores to mechanisms by which sequence variants elicit tumor initiation or progression. We are especially interested in programs that connect to our strengths in Population Sciences, including the Utah Population Database, UPDB. We are also interested in studies aimed at better integration between germline genotypes, somatic cell mutations, and utilize genomics to understand tumor prevention, interception, or improved treatment.
Applicants for Assistant Professor are expected to hold a PhD or MD/PhD (or equivalent), to have excelled in their postdoctoral training and to have a track record of impact and research productivity. Applicants for senior positions should additionally have a proven record of independent funding, leadership and innovative research.
Candidates should submit a curriculum vitae, a cover letter containing a description of professional experience (including scientific accomplishments, leadership responsibilities and 3 references), and a 3-page research plan. We encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds.
Candidates are encouraged to apply by November 25, 2024 at the following link: https://utah.peopleadmin.com/postings/170923
