Summary:

The Assistant Director of Alumni Relations (ADAR) provides high-level support for the WCL Office of Advancement, which includes the Associate Dean of Advancement, the Senior Director of Advancement, and the Senior Director of Alumni Relations. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Alumni Relations, the Assistant Director of Alumni Relations will coordinate all alumni relations activities for the AUWCL Advancement team, assisting with the development of annual and comprehensive alumni relations-related goals and ensuring that the AUWCL Alumni Relations operation remains on track to meet its critical goals for events and chapter/group growth under the WCL Alumni Association. The ADAR may supervise students to help the WCL Office of Advancement meet its Alumni Relations goals.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide strategic event support to Senior Alumni Relations Director by managing and ensuring the execution of all alumni events including all call events as well as chapter and group events, combined alumni-student events, and events for graduating 3Ls around commencement.

  • This includes leading events, creating invitations, securing catering, working closely with the WCL facilities team and teams of off-site facilities such as law firms and restaurants, ordering flowers and awards, collaborating with the WCL Office of Strategic Communications on marketing events through social media and creating event graphics and logos, managing RSVPs and relevant donations/contributions associated with events.

  • Support the growth of the WCL Alumni Association by growing new alumni chapters and groups nationally and internationally.

  • This includes taking initiative to determine where we should open our next alumni chapters and groups, updating email addresses for cities where we would like to form a chapter/group, attending chapter/group meetings, helping to secure chapter/group leaders, connecting alumni within cities/groups to each other, updating the AUWCL Alumni Association web site with chapter/group information, and providing consistent and responsive administrative support and communication.

  • This role will also develop and compile data from alumni surveys to help the WCL Office of Advancement better understand our various alumni constituencies.

  • Create and compile content for the Senior Alumni Relations Director. This includes drafting emails, letters, and event scripts; preparing marketing and event materials; and drafting other correspondence to and on behalf of alumni chapters and groups.

  • Complete data entry tasks as needed to ensure that the team’s progress toward its goals and in meeting performance metrics is accurately reflected in advancement reports and dashboards.

  • Ensure all alumni communication is regularly and consistently updated in alumni records in CRM, including updating the AU Office of Advancement centralized data administration team as necessary.

Salary Range:
  • $58K - $63k annually.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
  • Full-Time.

  • 35 Hours per week.

Supervisory Responsibility:
  • Student workers.

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.

  • 2-4 years of relevant experience.

  • Occasional work on nights and weekend required.

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.

  • Experience working in an alumni relations operation.

  • Experience working in a higher education institution.

Travel Required:
  • Infrequent national travel is possible.
